So I know I’m not going to be able to finish everything on the list, but I’m at least hoping to get to 70. Right now I’m at 58 and I have 194 days left. Some I have completely given up on for various reasons, and they are italicized on the list and the ones I just gave up on this past month are located on the bottom of this post. The one goal I really care about finishing is AFI’s Top 100 movies. I feel like I have invested so much into that list that I need to finish it. And I have several friends who are doing the list as well, so it will be a joint effort. Plus I think it would be more difficult to watch these movies later when I don’t have people to hold me accountable to the list. All and all, I would say that November was a pretty productive month, considering how crazy it was schoolwise.

15. Drink a fruity drink on the beach- I did this at GA/FL at St. Simons. Orange Pineapple Juice, Cranberry Juice and Vodka. It was super good!

22. Apply to grad school- Today was the deadline for UGA’s School Counseling program and I got it all sent off. Now it’s time to wait and see what happens.

24. Take a creative writing class- I really enjoyed it, but I wish I would have made time to write more. I feel like some of the assignments we had to do were dumb, and I think I spent more time reading for that class than writing. But I definitely went out of my comfort zone in my writing because of this class and I definitely recommend it. Hopefully I will continue to write.

41. Get a map and mark all the places I’ve been- I ordered a World and a U.S. map, but they weren’t exactly what I thought they were, but I’m going to use them anyway. It’s hard to see my marks, even though I used a sharpie, but I guess it will work. I still need to hang them up, but they are marked!

79. Learn to play tennis- So I don’t know if I should be able to mark this off because after 10 weeks I still suck at tennis. I thought it would be a lot more fun and that the class would be informative, but it wasn’t. I only won a few sets ever, and that was mainly in doubles, and I never won a match. But at least I know the rules and can somewhat hit the ball. I just have no hand-eye coordination

47. Type up all my journals- I haven’t worked on this, but I decided that I would not just type up all the Bible verses that are scattered throughout, unless I contributed to it in some way. This should cut down a lot of typing and make this more possible, since I have almost 20 left. Maybe Christmas break will be a possibility.

48. Get a new job- Because of my crazy easy schedule next semester, and the fact that I don’t want to go home for all of Christmas break, I’ve been looking for jobs and turning in applications. Hopefully I’ll find something soon!

93. Write a short story- this one was inevitable. I’m in creative writing and we have had to write multiple short stories. I think my favorite one was the assignment where we had to find an interesting fact about a famous person and create a story around that. I learned that Cary Grant lost his two front teeth ice skating, and decided that it was because he was going to impress Katharine Hepburn.

21. Learn to swing dance - I have been going every week since June and I absolutely love it! It’s nowhere near as hard as I thought it would be, at least for a girl. I’ve become pretty good at anticipating what move the guy is going to do, and have gotten a lot better at making it up as I go along. I will still continue dancing and practicing and learning new moves, but I think I can successfully say I know how to do it.

94. Find an awesome t-shirt from a thrift store- I went to America’s Thrift Store and found an awesome Clemson T-Shirt. Picture coming soon.

21. Learn to swing dance- I’ve been going to swing dance lessons for the past few weeks and it is so much fun! I’ve been learning the basics. It’s not as hard as I thought it would be, at least not for the girl. I’m going to mark this done at the end of the summer, once I feel more confident in my moves.  

30. Organize my iTunes- I’ve been listening to all the songs that have zero in the play count and making sure that I like all of them and that they have the correct title/artist/album/genre/artwork. Next I’m going to go through the songs I haven’t listened to in over a year and do the same thing.

I’m giving up on…
23. Read 50 books from Entertainment Weekly’s List of New Classics- I know I officially gave up on this a while ago, but I am for real declaring it. I thought this was a good list to read from, and granted I liked some of the books, and there are a few that are on there that I still want to read, but there are so many more off the list that I would rather read. I was also afraid that because these books were longer and more boring, I wouldn’t accomplish some of my other reading goals. I also think that 50 was a lot more than I should have included. Even 25 would have been a lot. For future lists I think I might stick to 10 or 15, unless they are Chick Lit books like Emily Giffin or Sophie Kinsella.
37. Go to a Lacrosse Game- I put this on here because at the time I knew some guys who played lacrosse, but now they don’t, so there is no reason to really go to one.
48. Get a job- out of all the goals I’m officially giving up on, this one I tried the hardest to accomplish. I kind of did it in the sense that I’m kind of interning at the church, but it’s more of a volunteer position/Wesley leadership assignment. But I love it regardless. I’m giving up on this one because I know my Senior year is going to be really hard and  applying for Graduate School/other programs will be a full time job, in addition to working with the youth group and taking classes. Plus I’m only going to be in Athens for a year max (most likely), so I don’t really see the practicality of it.
70. Learn to play pool- I honestly don’t know why this was on my list to begin with. It isn’t even something I really have a strong desire to do. I think I might have put it on there because I watched a movie where like everyone played and I realized that I didn’t know how.
87. Join the Psychology Club on campus- I kind of forgot about this one, until after the deadline for this past semester. But the meetings are at 7 pm on Wednesday, when I have my youth group, so I couldn’t really do it. I also didn’t want to join if I knew I wouldn’t really do a lot with it.

As of now, these are the goals that I know for sure aren’t going to happen because they are things that I am not even trying to do. There are a few others that I am thinking of giving up on just because I don’t think they could happen in the next year, but they are things that  I would love to do, if I get the chance, so I’m still holding on to hope. But because I am officially giving up, I will now have to live out the consequences, which was to donate $5 to charity for every goal that I don’t complete. I’m trying to figure out which charities I want to support because there are so many good ones and I think I want to spread it around, especially because I’m sure I will have more than 5 not complete goals by the end.

38. Keep Hope Scholarship- I can officially mark this off. Hope is reevaluated every spring, as well as at 30, 60, and 90 hours. I have finished my last spring semester and with 91 hours, have crossed the 90 hour mark, so there is no way that I can lose it.

51. Try Sushi- I went to RuSans in Athens with Courtney and I tried two different types. I got a California roll and a fried mozzarella cheese  roll. I definitely liked the mozzarella one a lot better. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but I’m not a hundred percent sure I would choose to eat it again. It’s good to know that I can find something that I like if I’m put in that situation.

71. Go to a restaurant and only order dessert- This wasn’t even planned. It kind of just happened. We went to Pauleys, a really good crepe restaurant in Athens and ordered lunch. We planned on getting dessert, but they had a special lunch special, which gave us more food than expected, so that filled us up. We decided to come back later in the day to get dessert, which was a smores crepe, something I highly recommend.

So tonight, May 1 (well technically May 2 since it’s 1:30 am) I decided to try again before I went to bed. And I did it! My strategy was always the same. Start in North America (there are 23 countries), move down to South America (12) which makes 35. Then I shifted to Europe and if I didn’t mess up and accidentally type some that were in Asia or Africa, I should have 82. Then I moved to Asia, Oceania, and finished in Africa. I was going fine until I got to Oceania, like always, but I was determined not to move on until I got them all. Finally number 14 came to me and I began on Africa. I knocked it out pretty quick, but then I noticed I was still at 194. I knew I had all the ones in Africa and Oceania, so I figured I must have missed one in Asia. The time ticked down faster than normal, but I couldn’t figure it out. As I started reading over the ones I had, and even retyping some I knew I answered, I realized I forgot Bhutan, a small Asian nation north of India, with a population of 810,000 (I honestly didn’t know anything about this country so I just looked it up).

So there you go. Another goal accomplished. I’m not making any promises that I can successfully do it again, but I finished, even with 2:19 to spare. I am now a part of the 7.6% of Sporcle quiz takers who have scored 100% on this quiz. I feel honored.
